about

Founded in the rugged beauty of Colorado’s Upper Arkansas River Valley, Mountain Jay Books was born from equal parts service, storytelling, and craft. Established by a U.S. Navy veteran, writer, bookbinder, and online MFA student, our press reflects a lifelong devotion to words and the time-honored craft that gives them form.

Though officially launched in February 2026, Mountain Jay Books was years in the making. First imagined in 2016 as a modest literary journal, our vision was patiently refined and thoughtfully expanded, evolving into the multifaceted press it is today—a press rooted in purpose and dedicated to elevating literature at every stage of its journey.

We now publish short stories by emerging, previously unpublished authors in both digital and print editions, offering new voices a lasting place on the shelf. Soon, we will extend that mission further through custom bookbinding services, crafting one-of-a-kind volumes using time-honored, ancient techniques—whether restoring beloved texts, creating heirloom-quality journals, or binding freshly formatted pages into works of art meant to endure for generations.
