Founded in the rugged beauty of Colorado’s Upper Arkansas River Valley, Mountain Jay Books was born from equal parts service, storytelling, and craft. Established by a U.S. Navy veteran, writer, and bookbinder trained by the American Academy of Bookbinding, our press reflects a lifelong devotion to words and the time-honored craft that gives them form.
Though officially launched in February 2026, Mountain Jay Books was years in the making. First imagined in 2016 as a modest literary journal, our vision was patiently refined and thoughtfully expanded, evolving into the multifaceted press we envision today—a press rooted in purpose and dedicated to elevating literature at every stage of its journey.
At the moment, we publish short stories by emerging authors, offering fresh voices a lasting place on the shelf. Soon, we will extend that mission further through print publications, file formatting, and custom bookbinding services that result in one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted volumes to be treasured by book lovers for generations.
